1992

Solcon was founded as a startup in Braunschweig, Germany in 1992 and has been based in the Hanseatic city of Lübeck since 1994. The company began in a self-built hangar, where a small team worked on developing electric and, in particular, solar-powered drives. The company name, Solcon, is derived from "SOLar" and "CONstruction".

1994

A visionary step into the future: Even back then, we developed an electric bicycle with solar power.

END OF THE 90s

In the late 1990s, Solcon introduced the industrial PC – a robust and customizable system designed to meet the exact needs of our customers. Several years later, Solcon introduced the "mobile workstation", a battery-powered solution for on-the-go data processing.

2000s

A few years later, the "Mobile Workplace" revolutionized the industry. Electrically equipped for mobile data processing, it underwent continuous development and has become an indispensable companion for mobile operations over the past decade.

2008

In the mid-2000s, Solcon started developing its own indoor positioning system and was awarded an innovation prize in 2008.

TODAY

Our ongoing development of IPCs, mobile workstations, and RTLS/RFID tracking technologies drives us forward. We invest continuously in research and development to provide our customers with future-proof solutions.

Executive Management

Gunnar Tons studied business administration at the “University of Applied Sciences Hamburg”. He gained his professional experience over the past 20 years in various management positions at Jungheinrich and Körber AG.

Since January 2024, Gunnar Tons has been a member of the management board at SOLCON as one of two managing directors. From the beginning of 2025, he will be the sole managing director of the company.
