MDE Devices with 3G (UMTS) Soon Obsolete Due to Network Shutdown? – Not with Us, Solcon Has the Solution
Starting in June 2021, telecommunications providers will shut down the 3G network nationwide in Germany. This means the end for devices such as MDEs or scanners that still work with the 3G network. They must be replaced with new devices that meet the 4G standard or higher. This investment is often associated with significant follow-up costs. These result from the setup of the new devices for productive use. For a new generation of devices, the redesign of the software application is usually required. Further, additional effort will then arise if an operating system change is involved and adjustments in higher-level software systems [such as warehouse management systems] become necessary.
This effort is unnecessary. Solcon has developed a solution that allows you to continue using your 3G-capable devices easily. No device replacement, no new setup, and no operating system-related software adjustments. And all this despite the shutdown of the 3G network.
How is that possible?
Through an innovative combination of G-networks with wireless communication technology, a further connection of the old devices is guaranteed. This means your existing devices now operate independently of the 3G network and can continue to be used as usual. The Solcon solution is also ideally suited for vehicle use.
Are you interested in continuing to use your old devices? Then contact us.

About Solcon Systemtechnik GmbH:
Solcon Systemtechnik GmbH is a medium-sized company based in Lübeck, Germany, specializing in the manufacture of industrial hardware (industrial PCs, industrial monitors, radio scanners, mobile workstations, camera systems, access systems, special machines, etc.). Our products are designed for harsh environmental conditions and are optimized to customer specifications. Another focus is the development of solutions for tracking, e.g., goods, load carriers, industrial vehicles, assets, etc., particularly in industrial and logistics environments. In addition to GPS, we use less well-known technologies that enable not only outdoor tracking but also seamless indoor-to-outdoor tracking (Seamless Positioning). These include, for example, LPS (Local Positioning System) or RTLS. Our customers include well-known companies from the medical technology, logistics, food, ports, airports, and large system integrators, etc.
